The owners wanted color and pattern without it tipping into busy. The plaster hood gives the eye a place to rest; the patterned tile gives it somewhere to play.
We kept the perimeter quiet — warm walnut cabinetry, honed stone counters, brass that will only get better — so the two statement pieces can breathe.
